Saab 9-3 Coupe

The Saab 9-3, a compact executive car, was developed and manufactured by Swedish carmaker Saab. It was initially based on the GM2900 platform and later changed to the GM Epsilon platform, used by the Opel Vectra and Cadillac BLS. Saab's last owners, NEVS, produced only the 9-3 sedan until the company declared bankruptcy. It was badged as the 93 from 1998, as part of the automaker's new naming strategy. It is not to be confused with the Saab 93, which was a car produced from 1955 to 1960. First generation (1998-2002/3) The first 9-3 was introduced in 1998 for the 1999 model year, as an upgraded Saab 900 (NG). It was known as the OG 9-3 (old generation) and internally as body style 9400. Until 2002, the 9-3 was available as a three or five-door hatchback, and as a two-door convertible. It was powered by the company's H engine and featured a revised suspension, styling and a range of safety features, including side impact airbags and active headrests. Additionally, it underwent the Saab moose test.
