Saab 9-3 Coupe

The Saab 9-3 is a compact executive car that was initially developed and manufactured by the Swedish car manufacturer. It was based on GM2900 platform but later changed to the GM Epsilon platform. This platform was also used by Opel Vectra and Cadillac BLS. Saab's last owners, National Electric Vehicle Sweden (NEVS) produced only the 9-3 sedan before the company declared bankruptcy. The 9-3 was badged as "93" from the 1998 model year when Saab changed the naming strategy of their small cars to be the same as that of the larger 95. The Saab 9-3 was introduced in 1997 for the 1998 model year and was based on the second-generation Saab 900. First generation (1998-2002/3) The initial generation 9-3 was basically an enhanced Saab 900 (NG). Referred to as OG 9-3 (old generation) and with internal body style 9400, it was launched in 1998 for the 1999 model year and ceased production by the end of 2002. For the 2003 model year, the 5-door hatchback, 3-door hatchback, and 2-door convertible variants were replaced by the second generation 9-3. This car must not be confused with Saab 93 produced from 1955 to 1960. It received over 1,100 changes from its predecessor, Saab 900 (1994 - 1998 model), including a revised suspension to improve handling, revised styling with some models featuring a black rear spoiler as well as the removal of famous Saab's "snow flap." The 9-3 was designed for increased ride and handling, as well as greater safety with standard side impact airbags and active headrests. The Saab 9-3 was also designed to pass the moose test.
