Saab 9-3 Aero Coupe

The Saab 9-3 is a well-established name in the world of compact executive cars, originally produced and manufactured by the renowned Swedish carmakers, Saab. It first used the GM2900 platform, later updated to the GM Epsilon platform, which also saw use in the Opel Vectra and Cadillac BLS cars.

In 1998, it was rebranded to 93, following Saab's new naming strategy for smaller cars that better matched the larger 95 model. Saab advertised the 9-3, pronounced as "nine three". The Saab 9-3 was launched in 1997 for the 1998 model year, primarily as a rebadged 2nd Generation Saab 900 (1994-1997 model). It was then redesigned for the 2003 model year, replacing the previous model.

First generation (1998-2002/3)

The first generation 9-3, an updated version of the Saab 900 (NG), was introduced in 1998 and remained in production until the 2002 model year (2003 only saw the convertible model). The model was known as the OG 9-3 (old generation) and was constructed with body style 9400. Over 1000 modifications were introduced in contrast to the 900, including revised styling featuring a black rear spoiler, revised suspension to improve handling, improved crash-worthiness with side impact airbags and active headrests, and the H engine. This car also passed Saab's famous moose test.
