Saab 9-3 Convertible

The Saab 9-3 Convertible is an entry-level luxury car / compact executive car produced by Swedish auto maker Saab. It is in fact badged as a 93, although Saab often advertise it as the 9-3 and it is pronounced as "nine three". Not to be confused with the Saab 93. It was launched in 1998 for the 1999 model year and had sleeker styling compared to the previous model, the Saab 900, with certain models incorporating a black rear spoiler and the removal of the famous ‘snow flap’. The 9-3 was available as a three or five door hatchback, and as a two door convertible. 1999-2003

One of Saab's remarkable innovations - the ‘Night Panel’ (previously used on the 900) - allowed drivers to switch off the instrument panel lighting, except for essential information, to reduce distraction while driving at night. A total of 326,370 first generation 9-3s were built.

Viggen

The high-powered, no longer in production, version of the Saab 9-3 was called Viggen - a tribute to the Saab Viggen aircraft. It was equipped with a turbocharged 2.3L engine providing 230 hp ECE (169 kW). It took 6.4 seconds for the Viggen to accelerate from 0-100 km/h and reach a top speed of 249 km/h.
