Saab 9-3 Convertible

The Saab 9-3 is a compact executive car produced by the Swedish automaker Saab, initially based on the GM2900 platform. This was later replaced by the GM Epsilon platform, which was also used in the Opel Vectra and Cadillac BLS. The car was introduced in 1997 as a replacement for the Saab 900 (1994-1998 model). It was badged as the 93 for the 1998 model year, and thereafter marketed as the 9-3, pronounced "nine three". First generation (1998-2002/3) The first generation 9-3, an updated version of the Saab 900 (NG), was launched in 1998 for the 1999 model year and lasted until the 2002 model. It was internally known as the 9400 model and was referred to by enthusiasts as the OG 9-3 (old generation). The revised styling included a black rear spoiler, while the suspension was improved to tighten the car's handling. It was available as a three or five-door hatchback, and as a two-door convertible. Safety features included standard side-impact airbags with head protection, active headrests, and the capability to pass the "moose test". The 9-3 was the last Saab to use the company's H engine.
