The Saab 9-3 is an entry-level luxury car / compact executive car produced by the Swedish automaker Saab. It shares platforms with the Opel Vectra and is badged as a 93. It is pronounced "nine three" and should not be confused with the Saab 93. 1999-2003 The original 9-3 was a rebadged Saab 900 with improved styling including a black rear spoiler and no more "snow flap". It was available as a three or five-door hatchback and two-door convertible. It was the last small Saab to have the company's H engine. Another Saab innovation was the 'Night Panel', which allowed the instrument panel lighting to be doused for less distraction at night. A total of 326,370 first generation 9-3s were built.
