The Saab 9-3 is a compact executive car commissioned by the Swedish automaker Saab. It shares the GM2900 platform originally with the Opel Vectra and later the GM Epsilon platform with the Cadillac BLS. This model, recognized as 93 starting in 1998, was an upgrade from the Saab 900 (1994-1997 model) and is commonly known as the "nine three". First generation (1998-2002/3) The first generation 9-3, which was a remake of the Saab 900 (NG), debuted in 1999. It was known as the OG 9-3 or body style 9400 and continued through the 2002 model year (though Saab only produced a convertible in the 2003 model). Saab MPs cited 1,100 changes including revised styling with black rear spoilers, the removal of the company's "snow flap", and improved suspension. It was offered as a three or five-door hatchback, and a two-door convertible. The model was the last of Saab's small cars to include the H engine and came with standard side impact airbags and active headrests. It also underwent the traditional Saab moose test.
