Saab 9-3 Sport Sedan

The Saab 9-3 is a compact executive car that was originally developed and manufactured by Swedish automaker Saab. It was first based on the GM2900 platform which was later changed to GM Epsilon platform, and is shared by Opel Vectra and Cadillac BLS. National Electric Vehicle Sweden (NEVS) released the 9-3 sedan (saloon) as Saab's only model, though they declared bankruptcy after a few hundred were produced. Starting from the 1998 model year, the car was badged as 93 -- pronounced as "nine three" and called as 9-3 to match with the larger 95 which was also produced by Saab. The 9-3 was launched in 1997 as a revamped version of the Saab 900 (1994-1997 model). First generation (1998-2002/3) The first generation 9-3 was essentially a reworked Saab 900 (NG) and was designed to enhance the ride and handling when it was presented on the markets for the 1999 model year. It was commonly referred to as OG 9-3 (old generation) and called body style 9400 internally. It remained in the market to the 2002 model year and for the 2003 model year, it was replaced by its redesigned version apart from the convertible model. This generation of 9-3 featured some changes in styling with some models receiving a black rear spoiler and the snow flap was removed. It came in three or five-door hatchback and two-door convertible and is based on the H engine. Enhanced safety and crash-worthiness were delivered with the standard inclusion of side impact airbags and head protection, and active headrests. The 9-3 also passed the moose test for safety.
