The Saab 9-3 SportSedan Aero is a compact executive car developed and manufactured by Swedish automotive company Saab. It is based on the GM Epsilon platform, same as the Opel Vectra and Cadillac BLS. The first San 9-3 was introduced in 1998 for the 1999 model year, based on the second generation Saab 900, and was marketed as "nine three". In 2003, a redesigned 9-3 model, known as the "Old Generation", was released and remained on sale through the 2002 model year.
This car features a revised styling, improved suspension, and active headrests and side impact airbags with head protection for greater crash-worthiness. The 9-3 SportSedan Aero also successfully completed the moose test for enhanced safety standards. It is offered as a three or five-door hatchback, and as a two-door convertible.
