Saab 9-7X

The Saab 9-7X is a mid-size SUV based on the General Motors GMT platform and is branded by Saab. It is built on the same USA production line as the Chevrolet Trailblazer, GMC Envoy, Buick Rainier, and Isuzu Ascender. In May 2005, the 9-7X went into production, but wasn't available for sale in the United States until September. The 9-7X is known for its optimized handling thanks to its 1" lowered ride height and revised bushings and dampers. Inside, the design is inspired by the classic Saab 900 including signature features such as the console-mounted ignition switch and swing-out cup holders. Although 'Displacement on Demand' is listed as a feature, it isn't working until the 2006 model. Variants of the 9-7X come with all-wheel drive, leather seats, 18" alloy wheels, and side-curtain airbags. Entertainment and convenience features include OnStar, XM Satellite Radio, a 6-CD Bose audio system, moonroof or rear-seat DVD entertainment system (and both for 2006). Originally, the 9-7X was going to be replaced by the Subaru B9 Tribeca-based Saab 9-6X, but since GM has sold off their Subaru stock, the project has been cancelled. Instead, the 9-4X based on the Theta platform is scheduled to take its place in 2008. Sold in various countries, the Saab 9-7X has a MSRP that ranges from US$38,520 - US$40,520 in the United States. The 9-7X should not be confused with the classic Saab 97 (Saab Sonett II and III) produced from 1966 to 1974.
