Saab 900 Coupe

The second-generation Saab 900, also known as the GM900 or NG900, replaced the "classic" first-generation 900 from 1994 to 1998. During this time, more than 1,100 improvements were made, and then in mid-1998 it was rebranded the Saab 9-3 in many markets (in the U.S., the name change was implemented for the 1999 model). Variations of the 900 included the 900i (4-cylinder, non-turbo), S (4-cylinder, non-turbo) and SE (4-cylinder turbo or V6) across three-door, five-door and convertible body styles. In addition, there was the limited-edition Saab 900 Talladega in 1997 and 1998. Depending on the market, motor choices ranged from 2.0L, 2.3L Saab 16-valve DOHC engines (B204 and B234) in combinations of both turbocharged and naturally-aspirated, or a 2.5L GM European 54° V6. The Turbo variants were equipped with Saab Trionic 5, Direct Ignition (SDI) and Automatic Performance Control, while the non-turbo models were powered with a Bosch Motronic fuel injection system and, in some markets, a distributor-operated ignition system. Engineering advancements set the NG900 apart from the first-generation model such as a transversely-mounted engine and rear-hinged hood (bonnet). There was also the optional 'Sensonic' clutch variant (Turbo models only) which gave a manual gear lever option without the clutch pedal, as the electronics can respond quicker than a human driver.
