Saab 900 Coupe

The Saab 900 Coupe, more commonly known as the GM900 or NG900, was the successor of the first-generation Saab 900, spanning the 1994 to 1998 model years. In mid-1998, the 900 received over 1100 individual improvements and was rebranded the Saab 9-3, while continuing production through 2002. The various models of the 900 included a 900i (4-cylinder, non-turbo), S (4-cylinder, non-turbo), and SE (4-cylinder turbo or V6) and was available in three-door, five-door and convertible body styles. A special Saab 900 Talladega was produced for the 1997 and 1998 model year, in honor of a record-breaking endurance test in 1996. Powering the NG900 were a variety of Saab 16-valve DOHC engines (B204, B234) with either naturally aspirated or turbocharged (2.0L only) options, as well as a 2.5L GM European 54° V6 engine. Engine management for the turbos was handled with Saab Trionic 5 with Direct Ignition and Automatic Performance Control, while a Bosch Motronic fuel injection was applied for non-turbos. Markets could select from all naturally aspirated engines with a distributor-operated ignition system. The NG900 Carre featured a more common transversely-mounted engine withrear-hinged bonnet that set it apart from its predecessor the classic Saab 900, which had a longitudinal-mounted engine with front-hinged bonnet. Saab added the unique "Sensonic" clutch variant, available with Turbo models only which used an electronic clutch faster than any regular driver.
