Saab 95 Aero Wagon

The Saab 9-5 is an executive car that was produced by the Swedish automobile maker Saab, and was introduced in 1997 to replace the Saab 9000. The 9-5 was released to the US market for the 1999 model year. It was available in four engine options: Saab's B205 and B235 straight-4 engines, Opel's Ecotec 2.2 diesel engine, and GM's turbocharged B308 V6 engine. The V6 was offered only on Arc, SE and Griffin models. In 2004, Saab replaced the V6 with a high pressure turbo straight-4 engine. The engine provided 220 hp (160 kW), and in 2006 this was increased to 260 hp (190 kW). The B205 & B235-based 9-5 models were prone to engine oil sludge, particularly in the 1999-2003 models. To combat this, Saab fitted a refined positive crankcase ventilation system (PCV) for the 2004 and later models, and advocated the use of fully synthetic oil. GM also offered an eight-year extended warranty on the engine in 4-cylinder models for original owners, provided that they adhere to the manufacturer's oil change intervals.
