Saturn Flextreme Concept

At the 2008 North American International Auto Show, Saturn unveiled the electric-drive Flextreme concept, showcasing that clean transportation and stunning design can co-exist. Powered by General Motors' E-Flex propulsion system and featuring a monocab design, this vehicle has up to 34 miles of all-electric, emissions-free range. Additionally, Flextreme concept deviates from traditional cars with its side-view cameras, inventive doors, and a unique, European-inspired design. Jill Lajdziak, General Manager of Saturn, asserted, “Clean design, innovative features, and environmental technology are hallmarks of Saturn's portfolio. The Flextreme concept demonstrates how our next generation of vehicles will apply these attributes, and displays that unconventional thinking can be instrumental in creating exceptional cars.” This concept is the outcome of a partnership between Saturn and GM’s European Opel brand to exemplify the future designs of both vehicles. This collaboration has produced several successful models in the US and Europe, including the Saturn Aura, Sky, and Vue; and the Opel GT, Antara, and Astra. It was first presented as an Opel at the 2007 Frankfurt Auto Show.
