Saturn ION Quad Coupe 2003 posters

Saturn ION Quad Coupe

The Saturn ION is a compact car sold by General Motors' Saturn marque that uses the GM Delta platform. In 2003, the ION replaced the Saturn S-series. The 2003 ION comes standard with a 140 hp (104 kW) DOHC Ecotec I4 engine and an instrument panel mounted on the top center of the dashboard. This model is available in sedan and unique coupe forms; the coupe is called a "quad coupe" due to the two smaller rear-opening "suicide doors" accompanying the front doors. A Getrag F23 5-speed manual or an Aisin AF33 5-speed automatic transmission are available to pair with the engine. The identical model year also saw the introduction of the higher performance Redline variant, featuring a supercharged engine and the VTi continuously variable transmission. In 2006, the ION received an exterior facelift to give it more of a family resemblance to the 2007 Saturn Aura and Saturn Sky roadster. This model year also saw the addition of a 170 hp 2.4 L I4 engine with variable valve timing to the ION3. For the 2005 model, the Aisin 5-speed automatic transmission and VTi continuous variable transmission were both discontinued due to issues with reliability. The GM 4T45-E replaced both transmissions and is the only automatic option for the 2005-on models. Additionally, the 2005 ION upgrades included a "hockey-puck" style steering wheel design and upgraded seats in the base ION-1 model with new fabrics and a height adjustment feature. For sound reduction, "quiet steel" multilaminate technology was also implemented. Finally, the sedan got a larger front fascia with a larger grill opening and an acoustic engine cover was added to reduce engine noise.
