Saturn ION Sedan 2003 posters

Saturn ION Sedan

The Saturn ION is a compact car sold by General Motors' Saturn marque. It uses the GM Delta platform, replacing the Saturn S-series in 2003. The 2003 ION came standard with a 140 hp (104 kW) DOHC Ecotec I4 engine. The instrument panel is located at the top center of the dashboard, giving it a unique look. The ION is available both as a sedan and coupe; the coupe is often referred to as a "quad coupe" due to its two smaller rear-opening "suicide doors" behind the front doors. A Getrag F23 5-speed manual and Aisin AF33 5-speed automatic transmission can be chosen. In 2004, the ION Redline variant, which offers a supercharged engine, was released. For the 2006 model year, the ION received a facelift to give it more of a family resemblance to the 2007 Saturn Aura and Saturn Sky roadster. Additionally, a 170 hp 2.4 L I4 engine with variable valve timing became available. In 2005, the VTi continuously variable transmission and Aisin 5-speed automatic used in prior models were discontinued due to various issues. Replacing them both was the GM 4T45-E automatic, as well as the "hockey-puck" style steering wheel was changed with the 2004 Redline model design. To improve the sound quality, acoustic engine cover and multilaminate technology were introduced, and the front fascia received a larger grill opening. Moreover, the ION-1 model seats were upgraded with new fabrics and a height adjustment feature, and the ecu was changed from a speed density system to a mass air system.
