Scion 5 Axis Widebody DJ xB

The Scion xB is the American-market version of the subcompact Toyota bB, which was first introduced in Japan. It is a small wagon that stands on the Toyota Yaris platform, and it houses a 1NZ-FE engine that is rated at 108 hp (81 kW) at 6000 rpm and 105 lb-ft of torque at 4200 rpm. Scion has specifically marketed the xB to Generation Y Americans born in 1978 or later, whose 78 million members comprise an ever-important pool of car buyers who have differing requirements for the vehicles they drive. Initially, Toyota anticipated the xA model would outsell the xB, yet the reverse proved to be true, due to the latter’s distinct style and its remarkable blend of van-like cargo and passenger room with a very compact size. Compared to its cousin, the bB, the xB offers differences in the front passenger area, featuring two bucket seats and a shifter placed on the floor rather than the bB’s front bench seat and column-mounted automatic transmission, and, of course, it runs on left-hand drive. Powering-wise, the bB is available in either 1.3 liter 2NZ-FE or 1.5 liter 1NZ-FE engines, or with its optional all-wheel drive system though mated exclusively to 4-speed automatic transmission. Meanwhile, the xB runs only on the 1NZ-FE engine, and is suitable in both 4-speed auto and 5-speed manual transmission—all-wheel drive is not available. Plus, the Scion xB is also equipped with a compact spare tire situated under the left side of the rear cargo floor, along with a jack stored under the driver’s seat. On the other hand, the bB does not have a spare tire.
