Scion xA Release Series 1.0

The Scion xA is a subcompact car sold in the USA by Toyota's brand Scion. It is marketed as the Toyota Ist in Japan and is based on the 1999 to 2005 Toyota Vitz hatchback (sold as Toyota Yaris in Europe). It features a slightly larger body than the Echo, a stiffer suspension, rear stabilizer, bigger brakes, more aggressive wheels/tires, and has slightly more aggressive final-drive ratios. It also is heavier by 125 kg (275 pounds) and comes with more equipped features such as standard anti-lock brakes, tachometer, power windows/locks, and a Pioneer MP3 stereo system. The xA was first sold in California, but due to low popularity, Toyota also started marketing the model in the Middle East as Toyota xA. For the 2006 model year, Toyota/Scion gave the xA a refreshed look which included modified front and rear bumpers, side skirts, turn signal indicators on the side mirrors, audio controls on the steering wheel, and optional iPod input with headunit display. Further, this was the first production vehicle to offer the feature along with a more refined and user-friendly headunit and more exterior colors. Cruise control also became an option in 2006. The xA is powered by a 1.5 L DOHC I4 engine producing 108 hp (81 kW) @ 6000 rpm (revised to 103 SAE net horsepower in 2006) and 105 ft·lbf (142 Nm) of torque @ 4200 rpm (revised to 101 ft·lbf in 2006). It has a cargo volume of 11.7 ft³ (331 L) and EPA fuel economy ratings from 2004 to 2006 were 32/38 mpg for both manual and automatic transmission.
