SEAT will reveal the prototype of the upcoming Altea FR at the Frankfurt International Motor Show from 15th to 25th September with press days on 12th, 13th and 14th. The series version of the model is expected to be released in the early 2006, and this vehicle gives an idea of the Spanish brand's new FR range. It comes fitted with the powerful 170 hp 2.0 TDI (125 kW) engine, which has four valves per cylinder and is the most powerful Diesel engine in SEAT's lineup. The six-speed manual gearbox provides power to the front wheels, and the engine also meets the EU4 emission standards. It can reach up to 208 km/h speed and from 0 to 100 km/h in 8.6 seconds.
The exterior design is accentuated with wedge shape, compact proportions, a designer bumper and 18" chromed alloy wheels with 225/40 tyres, which gives the car a sporty look. The two-tone body colour further accentuates its style- silver body finish except for the roof, the bonnet cover strip, the strips for the windscreen wipers and headlight casings, which are glossy black. The chrome-featured detailing includes exterior rear view mirrors, wheel trims and double exhaust with 70 mm diameter polished exhaust pipes. An exclusive feature of this prototype is the ‘FR" adhesive graphic which runs from the B-pillar to the C-pillar, from the base of the doors to below the door handles.
The interior is no less captivating, featuring Ona silver and leather-covered components. The silver tones are the roof lining, handles, the cup holder on the driver's side and the tapestry on the glove compartment and dashboard, giving the cabin a sporty feel and great visuals. The leather upholstery is on the steering wheel, the door panels, gear stick cover, handbrake cover, instrument panel cover and four separate sports seats with the ‘FR’ logo over the seatback. The ‘FR' logos can be seen on the instrument panel, gear knob and as a small badge on the steering wheel as well. Moreover, the Altea FR is equipped with bi-functional adaptive xenon headlights and has adjustable rear seats.
