Seat Ibiza 1.4 TDI 2003 posters

Seat Ibiza 1.4 TDI

The third generation SEAT Ibiza (Typ 6L) was the first model to be fully produced under the Volkswagen Group, and was based on the same PQ24 platform as the Volkswagen Polo Mk4 (Typ 9N). This sporty, performance car, styled by Italian designer Walter de Silva, was made available from 2002 to 2008 and was slightly larger than previous generations, with space for five adults and a spacious (albeit short) boot. The standard trim level was noticeably higher than earlier models and has been highly acclaimed, with What Car? magazine labelling it 'Car of the Year' in 2003, and 'Supermini of the Year' for three years running. Apart from its improved styling, the Ibiza Mk3 was also used as a police car and a rally car, and had several trim levels: Award, S, SX, Stylance, Reference, Signo, Stella, Sport, FR and Cupra. In 2006, minor changes were made to the interior and exterior of the car, introducing new trim levels - Reference, Stylance, Freerider, Sportrider, Sport, DAB Sport (2006 limited edition), Formula Sport (2007 limited edition), FR and Cupra. Furthermore, there were power increases in the 1.2 12v and 1.4 16v engines and a new 1.4 litre TDI diesel version. The TDI versions of the FR and Cupra use a 1.9 litre Pumpe-Düse diesel engine with 130 PS (96 kW; 128 bhp) and 165 PS (121 kW; 163 bhp) respectively, albeit modified by SEAT Sport. In terms of safety, the Ibiza Mk3 was rated 4 stars under the Euro NCAP assessment scheme in 2002.
