Skoda Fabia WRC 05

The Škoda Fabia is a small 5-door hatchback developed by Škoda Auto and designed for the Volkswagen Group's versatile A00 platform. This platform is commonly shared between the Volkswagen Polo and SEAT Ibiza, and is a successor to the discontinued Škoda Felicia. The Fabia offers a diverse range of models, ranging from the affordable 1.2 6v Classic to the powerful 1.9 PD TDi vRS. The Fabia is available in three body styles; the hatchback that shares much similarity with the Polo, its estate variant, and the classic saloon with a protruding boot lid. The saloon, however, is not the most favored body style in certain markets such as the United Kingdom. Production of the Fabia is scheduled to end in December 2006. The Fabia's distinguished features include mechanical parts developed by or in partnership with Volkswagen, while its pricing is intended to undercut other models in Volkswagen's range. The 1.4 8v "MPI" engine, however, remains the only trace of the Škoda's own 1.3 motor, reused from the predecessor, the Favorit. In 2000, the Fabia was introduced with an array of available engines, body styles, and trims which range from the Comfort to Ambiente, Ambiente SE, Blackline, Silverline, Sport, Bohemia (Estate), and vRS. 2006 models have received minor updates such as the center rear head rest, a central 3 point seatbelt, and additional 4 bodywork colors. The stock 1.4 16v 75BHP engine has been replaced with a more powerful 1.4 16v 79BHP engine. In 2005, the Fabia underwent a facelift which included changed front fog lights and grille, slightly different rear lights, new steering wheel, revised specification levels, and the Sport model's inclusion of a manual transmission with the 75hp 1.4 petrol.
