Skoda Felicia Fun
The
Škoda Felicia is a small family car that was produced from 1994 to 2001 (1995 - 2001 for the Škoda Felicia Combi) by Czech automaker Škoda Auto - the first model to benefit from their takeover by the Volkswagen Group. It was essentially a revamp of the Favorit, with a more modern look, an expanded range of engines, and a five-speed gearbox as standard.
The name Felicia was recycled from the 1960s, where it was affixed to a range of two-seater sports cars that remain popular today. Versions included 1.3L OHV Škoda units, Bosch Mono Motronic single-point fuel injection (until 1997), and Siemens multi-point fuel injection with two power outputs of 54 hp (40 kW) and 68 hp (50 kW). Two engines sourced from VW were also available: a 75-hp (55 kW) 1.6L petrol engine with Magneti Marelli multi-point fuel injection and a 64-hp (47kW) 1.9L diesel.
Škoda Felicia's line-up comprised a range of bodyworks for both personal and professional use, including a 5-door hatchback, estate (replacing the Favorit-based Forman, redubbed as the Škoda Felicia Combi), pick-up, and a panel van called the Cube Van. The pick-up version was even imported to some countries and re-branded as the VW Caddy pick-up. The lifestyle edition of the Felicia Pickup, the Škoda Felicia Fun, had two reclinable rear seats and a fabric cover.
Thanks to the Volkswagen influence, the Škoda Felicia raised the brand's profile in Western Europe. It marked the first diesel powered Škoda and included new safety and convenience features, such as air conditioning and velour upholstery (in some SLXI models). In 1998, the Felicia garnered Škoda the "Best Manufacturer" accolade in the JD Power Car Survey.
Production of the Škoda Felicia ended in 2001, after the launch of the Škoda Fabia. Overall, 1,416,939 cars were made during this period, with the pick-up model still being available for sale throughout 2001.
