Skoda Octavia Elongated L and K

The Škoda Octavia was first released in November 1996, built at the modernised Škoda factory in Mladá Boleslav, Czech Republic. This generation was available in hatchback and estate models, and saw UK sales beginning in 1998. Its solidity, refinement and value for money were well appreciated by buyers, even though it could not quite rival the sales of Ford Mondeo and Vauxhall Vectra. Additionally, the Octavia was very popular among the taxi drivers of the UK due to its relatively low price, spaciousness and dependability. In 2000, the first generation Octavia was facelifted, making it even more attractive to buyers. It featured an independent rear suspension, increased interior space and design, as well as better quality materials. The facelifted version of the Octavia also had a 4x4 wheel drive option for both the focus or estate models, and used the Haldex Traction clutch. With higher ground clearance, the 4x4 Octavia had a larger fuel tank capacity of 63-litres (17 US gal; 14 imp gal) whereas the standard front wheel drive version had a tank capacity of 55-litres (15 US gal; 12 imp gal). The quickest and top-level version of the facelifted Octavia was the vRS, which used a 1.8-litre straight-4 turbocharged engine that produced 180 bhp (134 kW; 182 PS). To commemorate the success of the Octavia in motorsport, Škoda created a limited number of 100 WRC Replica Cars made in 2002 which differed from the regular vRS model by having added parts (ESP, xenon lights and heated front seats), as well as rally decals and a white body colour.
