At the 2010 Paris Motorshow, Škoda Auto will make its debut into the electric-powered vehicle market with the Skoda Octavia Green E Line concept. Focusing on both mobility and environmental conservation, the Green E Line concept will demonstrate Škoda’s innovative potential and technological competence. Škoda Auto BOD Chairman Prof. Dr. Winfried Vahland noted how the vehicle perfectly embodies the values of the brand: "The Skoda Octavia Green E Line combines individual mobility with our environmental goals."
The Škoda Octavia Green E Line Concept is derived from the Škoda Octavia Combi. With its specially-engineered chassis, the car fits the batteries, electronic control units, and an engine with a constant output of 60 kW and maximum power of 85 kW. Furthermore, the Green E Line has maximum torque of 270 Nm, which means that the car can accelerate from 0 to a 100 km/h in just twelve seconds. Additionally, the speed is capped at 135 km/h and the car has a range-per-charge of 140 kilometres.
The power source of the Skoda Octavia Green E Line Concept is a modern lithium-ion battery. The 26.5 kWh battery has 180 lithium-ion cells and weighs 315 kilograms, but does not take up much room in the passenger and luggage compartments. Smart dashboard indicators give the driver control over the energy flow, output, power consumption, battery charge and range-per-charge.
The exterior of the Škoda Octavia Green E Line Concept reflects its environmental-consciousness. The car has a pearl-white colour that is contrasted by elegant chrome-trim, a glossy black roof fitted with photovoltaic panels, and alloy wheels.
To gain more knowledge and further develop its electric drive, Škoda will create a test fleet of Octavia Green E Line vehicles in 2011.
