The new smart fortwo is more comfortable, agile, safe and environmentally-friendly than its predecessor. Thanks to the improved running gear and slightly bigger body, it is more comfortable to drive. It also features improved active and passive safety. New drive engineering ensures more agility and driving fun and a more eco-friendly experience.
In terms of design, the smart fortwo has been carefully developed to give it a fresher and more masculine look, while still retaining its distinct character with the tridion safety cell and innovative plastic bodypanels.
Engines: powerful, clean, economical
The smart fortwo will be released in April 2007 and features uprated petrol engines. It has three different capacity options; a one litre and 45 kW, 52 kW or 62 kW (61 bhp, 71 bhp or 84 bhp). Its diesel engine has increased ten percent in power, now offering 33 kW (45 bhp). All engines are connected to an automated manual five-speed transmission from Getrag.
The petrol versions can reach a maximum speed of 145 km/h - 10 km/h faster than its predecessor - making it more powerful, efficient and eco-friendly.
