Subaru Forester STI 2005 posters

Subaru Forester STI

Produced since 1998, the Subaru Forester is a compact crossover SUV (or station wagon) based on the chassis of the Subaru Impreza. Equipped with an all-wheel drive, the Forester features an SUV-style large boxy cargo area, extra ground clearance compared to other Subaru models, and a slogan of 'SUV tough, Car Easy'. It has been marketed in the US and other markets since the early 1990s. It was also sold in India as the Chevrolet Forester, however sales of the Chevrolet-badged model have discontinued since General Motors no longer owns a stake in Subaru's parent company, Fuji Heavy Industries. The Forester is produced in Japan at the Gunma Yajima Factory. In 2003, the XT model was released in the US, featuring a 2.5L turbocharged engine and the same Mitsubishi TD04 turbocharger used in the Impreza WRX. The engine in the 2004-2005 Forester XT is identical to the Impreza WRX STi, with the only differences being in the turbocharger, intercooler, exhaust system, and engine management programming. The 2003 model also features weight-saving refinements such as an aluminium hood, perforated rails, and a hydro-formed front frame. Due to all its features, the Forester also won Car and Driver Magazine's Best Small SUV for 2004, 2005 and 2006. Additionally, in 2006 the Forester's turbocharged engine - powering the XT model - was named International Engine of the Year. This same engine is also used in the Subaru Impreza WRX and re-badged Saab 9-2X.
