Subaru Impreza WRX STI 2006 posters

Subaru Impreza WRX STI

The Subaru Impreza WRX STI was first released in 2006 as the highest standard-edition trim in the Subaru Impreza range. In the late 1980s, it was created by the Subaru Tecnica International (STI) division to be a high-performance consumer version of the Subaru Impreza WRX, renowned for its all-wheel-drive (AWD) with a turbocharged flat-4 engine. Since then, it has been used as a rally platform by Subaru. 2001 saw a complete revamp of the Impreza line, with the WRX STI gaining a boost in torsional rigidity of 120%. 17" x 7.5" alloy wheels replaced the 16" x 7" wheels of the previous model. WRX STI was outfitted with a 6-speed manual transmission produced by STI, while the engine remained unchanged from the Version 6 STI in the form of an EJ207 with IHI turbochargers. The interior updates included a STi logo on the gauge. The STi's gauge also featured a red shift light. STis and optioned Type RA STi vehicles received Brembo 4-pot front and 2-pot rear brakes, as opposed to the Subaru 4-pot front and 2-pot rear brakes of the Type RA STi. Externally, the STis featured larger hoodscoops and foglight covers with STi embossed on them. In addition, the DCCD has been updated to work with anti-lock brakes. During braking, when the ABS is on, the DCCD will automatically change to open-mode.
