Subaru Impreza WRX STI Special Edition
The 2010 Subaru Impreza WRX STI Special Edition is tailored for the driving enthusiast looking to gain an added measure of handling performance compared to the already extraordinary Subaru Impreza WRX STI. Suspension components from the Japanese domestic market Subaru Impreza WRX STI spec C model have been installed, including a 1-millimeter thicker rear stabilizer bar, stiffer rear sub-frame bushings, and tuned and upgraded springs- 16% and 29% stiffer at the front and back, respectively. The first 125 units of the Limited Edition model will arrive in early Spring, painted in a unique Aspen White, and sporting the charcoal-colored 18x8.5 in. 14-spoke alloy wheels from the JDM STI spec C. The model will then become a regular production car, available in standard colors, at a later point in the year.
Developed by Subaru Tecnica International- the performance and motorsports subsidiary of Fuji Heavy Industries Ltd- the Special Edition WRX STI features halogen headlights, a CD/4-speaker audio system, manual air conditioning, and body colored side mirrors instead of the HIDs, 6-CD/10-speaker system, automatic climate control, and color matched side mirrors of the regular release.
This high-performance machine boasts the same 305 horsepower/ 290 lb.-ft. turbocharged/intercooled Boxer engine and its Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive with Driver Controlled Center Differential (DCCD) version, 6-speed manual transmission, and selectable powertrain/dynamic handling controls as the regular Impreza WRX STI. It also takes on the same classic bulged fenders and rear quarter panels, rear spoiler, functional hood scoop, brake-cooling air intakes and engine heat outlets, and Dunlop SP600 245/40R18 tires. Plus, there's a Brembo Performance Brake System with ventilated 4-wheel Super Sport anti-lock (ABS) disc brakes plus Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD), and a list of standard safety features including side-curtain and side seat airbags, and Incline Start Assist.
