Fuji Heavy Industries Inc. (FHI), the maker of Subaru automobiles, is set to launch the redesigned Subaru B9 Tribeca, now simply named Subaru Tribeca, in the U.S. this summer. Subaru will exhibit the new Tribeca (U.S. specs) at the New York International Auto Show, April 6 through 15.
Subaru has redefined the concept of a progressive sports utility vehicle (SUV) in the new Tribeca. This updated version is equipped with a brand-new 3.6-liter boxer engine for increased performance and fuel efficiency on the roads. To make fuel consumption more pocket-friendly, the cooling system design now allows the Tribeca to run on regular unleaded gas.
Streamlined sophisticated styling
The exterior design of the Tribeca is intended to exude a more robust, SUV-like look, with a revamped front face. Inside, a blend of sophistication and sportiness is heightened by sleek design.
Outstanding performance
The 3.6-liter engine harnesses the Dual Active Valve Control System (Dual AVCS) to control the intake and exhaust valves, resulting in boosted low-end torque. On top of the larger and more powerful engine, the new 5-speed Automatic transmission, with a newly designed control unit, a refined torque converter and optimized gear ratio, allows for faster shift responses and amplified acceleration.
Despite the significant upgrade in size and power, the Tribeca’s engine and transmission weigh less than before, with 4.4 kilograms shaved off.
Improved comfort and functionality
The new Tribeca is designed to flourish around town. Third row seating access has been improved with newly added features that assist in entry and exit. Rear visibility is further boosted by redesigned side and rear mirrors, and quarter windows. The re-calibrated rear suspension, with newly added bushings for superior ride comfort, completes a more comfortable driving experience.
