American Suzuki Motor Corporation (ASMC) has unveiled the 2007 Suzuki XL7 midsize crossover SUV at the 2006 New York International Auto Show (NYIAS). The new front-wheel-drive/all-wheel-drive crossover SUV is bigger, bolder and more powerful than the previous generation XL-7. It features Suzuki's signature styling, along with an all-wheel drive and seven-passenger seating for maximum adaptability.
"The all-new XL7 was designed to blend SUV versatility and safety with increased driver and passenger comfort," said Koji Yamada, chief engineer, XL7. "The XL7 provides the cargo and seating flexibility as well as the performance capabilities and safety features to give drivers the confidence of being in control."
Performance and Powertrain
The XL7 runs on the GM Theta platform with full-length underbody rails for added strength. It is equipped with a front-wheel-drive system and four-wheel independent suspension with an available all-wheel drive option. It is powered by a GM-designed, Suzuki-built 3.6-liter, V6 DOHC engine offering an estimated 250 hp and 243 lb-ft of torque.
