The 2009 Toyota 4Runner is a full-capability sport utility vehicle that has an optional Trail Edition package available. This package is exclusive to the 4Runner SR5 with V6 and 4WD, and is designed to be an enhanced off-road performer with distinct design. The package includes a locking rear differential, Active Traction Control (A-TRAC), Bilstein shock absorbers, 16-inch alloy wheels with 265/70R16 tires, color-keyed grille, door handles, rear license plate garnish, tubular side steps, tubular roof rack, and "Trail Edition" badging. It comes with unique seats upholstered in water-resistant material, charcoal fabric bolsters, and a perforated leather-wrapped steering wheel integrated with controls for a special AM/FM/CD audio system with six speakers and a detachable TomTom® personal navigation unit. This system provides WMA/MP3 CD capability, Bluetooth® wireless connectivity, satellite radio capability, and iPod® connectivity. The Trail Edition package is available in three exterior colors: Titanium Metallic, Natural White, and Shadow Mica.
The Toyota 4Runner offers a choice of V6 or V8 engines, in both 2WD and 4WD models. The standard 4.0-liter DOHC V6 engine produces 236 horsepower with 266 lb-ft. of torque at 4,000 rpm while the available 4.7-liter i-Force DOHC V8 produces 260 horsepower with 306 lb-ft. of torque at 3,400 rpm. Both engines include VVT-i(Variable Valve Timing with intelligence) for additional power.
The 4Runner is available in 3 grades: the SR5, Sport Edition featuring a unique appearance and superior handling, and the Limited grade offering extra comfort amenities.
