Toyota Avensis Estate

The Toyota Avensis is a vehicle built in Burnaston, Derbyshire, United Kingdom by Toyota and first released as a 1998 model. It offers a four-door saloon, five-door hatchback and estate, and is marketed by Toyota to compete with the Volkswagen Passat in Europe. This was followed in 2003 by the second generation Avensis. It included 1.6, 1.8 and 2.0L petrol and 2.0L turbodiesel engines, alongside the 2.4L four-cylinder from the Camry, and also exported to Japan for the first time. In 2004 the Toyota Camry ended production in Europe, making the Avensis the largest Toyota saloon sold there. In Spain, the Sol and Executive variations are available, while Ireland offers four trim levels - Aura, Strata, Luna and Sol. The original 115 PS (85 kW) D-4D engine has been joined by the 2.2L D-4D in 150 PS (110 kW) and 177 PS (130 kW) options, with newer models sporting badging on the front wings and tailgate respectively. The original Avensis Verso has since been discontinued, with no replacement officially announced yet, though the 2.2L D-4D engine is rumoured to be included.
