Toyota Camry XLE

The sixth generation Toyota Camry XLE offers improved design and performance. It's assembled in four different locations around the world, including Toyota's plant in Georgetown, Kentucky, Toyota Manufacturing in Aichi, Japan, Toyota Motor Corporation Australia, and in China (for the Chinese market). The wheelbase is slightly larger than the previous model but the length remains the same. Starting in 2007, the Camry XLE will also be available at Subaru's Lafayette, Indiana plant. A Japanese-made Camry XLE is denoted with a VIN starting with "J", and US made models have a VIN starting with "4". It's first introduction to the public was at the 2006 North American International Auto Show. The Camry XLE sports a 2.4L VVT-i I4 capable of producing 158 horsepower (118 kW), and includes an optional 3.5 L VVT-i V6 with 268 hp (200 kW). Both options come with a 6-speed sequential transmission. The XLE has the sleek "Bangle-butt" design, previously seen on the 2002 BMW 7 Series, combined with certain elements from recent Hyundais and Mazdas. Other features include a navigation system with a cell phone link, heated leather seats, a keyless entry/remote starter, and split-folding rear seat. In Australia, the sixth generation Camry XLE is powered exclusively by a 2.4L I4 engine that produces 117 kW of power. The V6 option is now replaced by the Toyota Aurion, which is due for release in late 2006.
