Toyota Corolla Verso D4D

The ninth-generation Corolla (NZE120/ZZE120), introduced in August 2000, displayed edgier styling and a longer wheelbase of 102.4 in (2600 mm). It is built on the shortened Toyota Vista platform, a mid-sized car, and its width of 67 in (1700 mm) is generally narrower compared to its European counterparts. For the North American market, this Corolla variant is known as the Corolla Altis, and it arrived in Spring 2002 as model year 2003. Originally offered with CE, S, and LE trim levels. The torsion bar suspension and drum brakes at the rear are outdated features. The sporty XRS model, launched in 2004, boasts the high-revving engine of the Toyota Celica GT-S and Lotus Elise, with a power output of 170 hp (127 kW) and torque of 127 ft·lbf (172 N•m). The station wagon version of the Corolla is called the Corolla Fielder in Japan, and the five-door model is christened the Toyota Corolla Runx and Toyota Allex, making their debuts in 2001. The Corolla Spacio (or Verso in Europe) also switched to the new platform and later models featured a third row of folding seats in the back. This Corolla has also inspired another multi-purpose vehicle, the Matrix, available in Canada and the US, and it serves as the basis for the Pontiac Vibe. This car is sold with a different grille in Japan, where it is called the Toyota Voltz. In Brazil, the Corolla sedan and station wagon, which is designated as the Corolla Fielder, are built locally, and come with the 1.6 3ZZ-FE engine for the sedan and 1ZZ-FE for both. The Corolla sedan is designed similarly to the US model while the Fielder has a bespoke styling from the Japanese version. In some Asian countries, such as Indonesia, Malaysia, Pakistan, Philippines, Taiwan, and Thailand, buyers have access to another offshoot of the Corolla, the Corolla Altis, and it is intended for those who seek more comfort than the current Corolla, but don't want something as luxurious as the Toyota Camry. The Altis comes with two engine options, the 108 bhp 1.6 and 134 bhp 1.8, and for the 2004 model year, TVs-i was added to the 1ZZ-FE engine. The grille, tail lights and alloys were also refreshed. In Thailand, the Toyota Corolla is also sold as the Toyota Limo, a lower spec variant for the taxi business, but not to be confused with the taxi version of the Toyota Vios, which is also called the Toyota Limo in Indonesia.
