Toyota Corolla Verso VVTi

The ninth-generation Corolla (NZE120/ZZE120) was released in August of 2000 carrying with it a sleeker design and longer wheelbase of 102.4 in (2600 mm). Featuring a shortened Toyota Vista platform, the Corolla's width was kept to 67 in (1700 mm) in Japan to dodge higher taxation brackets. However, the majority of its European competitors outgrew it. North American models, meanwhile, appeared longer. Initially coming out with CE, S, and LE trim levels, the vehicles was outfitted with a torsion bar suspension and drum brakes in the rear. In 2004, Toyota decided to released a sporty XRS model sporting a high-revving 170 hp (127 kW) 127 ft·lbf (172 N•m) 2ZZ-GE engine and 6 speed manual from the Toyota Celica GT-S and Lotus Elise. The station wagon model is referred to as the Toyota Corolla Fielder in Japan, while the five-door is called the Toyota Corolla Runx and Toyota Allex. This released in 2001. The Corolla Spacio (Verso in Europe) which contains a third row of seats that can fold up, also moved onto the same platform. This car also served as the base for the Pontiac Vibe, also recognized as the Toyota Voltz when bought in Japan. With the Corolla sedan and Corolla Fielder both made locally, they can be seen in Brazil. These versions have different grilles than the Japanese model. The Toyota Corolla Altis specializes in additional comfort compared to the standard Corolla, yet falls short of the Toyota Camry. The Altis can be found in few Asian countries (excluding those in Hong Kong, Japan, & India). Under the hood you'll find either the 108 bhp 1.6 or the 134 bhp 1.8. For the 2004 model year, VVT-i was added to the 1ZZ-FE engine. Additionally, the grille, tail lights, and alloys were all changed. The Toyota Corolla Limo, made for lower-spec taxi businesses, is unique to the Thai market. It should not be confused for the taxi version of Toyota Vios, also called the Toyota Limo, in Indonesia.
