Toyota FJ Cruiser Concept

The Toyota FJ Cruiser (FJC) is a retro-style compact SUV that was originally introduced as a concept at the 2003 Chicago Auto Show. After the overwhelming consumer response, the vehicle went into production and was debuted at the North American International Auto Show in early 2006. The production version is based on the Hi-Lux platform, used by the modern 4Runner and Land Cruiser Prado, and features design elements that resemble the original FJ-series Land Cruisers from the 1960s. It is exclusively available in North America, and competes with the Nissan Xterra, Jeep Wrangler and the Hummer H3. The base price is between US$21,000 and US$23,000. At 183.9 inches in length, the FJ Cruiser is the longest compact SUV in the North American market, and the addition of the FJ Cruiser adds a sixth SUV in Toyota's American lineup. It is also the only Toyota vehicle to display the word "TOYOTA" spelled out across the grille, which is another nod to the classic FJ40. The engine of the FJ Cruiser is a 4.0 L 1GR-FE DOHC V6 with VVT-i, which produces 239 hp (178 kW) at 5200 rpm and 278 lb-ft (377 N·m) of torque at 2700 rpm.
