Toyota FT-EV II Concept
The Toyota FT-EV II Concept made its world debut at the 2009 Tokyo Motor Show, a compact electric vehicle specifically designed for short distance travel. Its creation is a glimpse into the future of society, one which features EVs as a common means of transport, reflecting user needs, adapted to the energy used and local supply infrastructure.
This high quality vehicle concept is ideal and comfortable for urban driving as it has a body even more compact than the Toyota iQ, yet provides seating for up to 4 passengers. Drive-by-wire technology has been implemented, allowing all the vehicle functions to be controlled using a joystick, including the accelerator, brakes and steering. This eliminates the need for the pedals, freeing up more legroom.
Making it easy to access in tight spots, were electric sliding doors on both sides. Its exterior features a low front cowl and an additional window below the level of the windscreen for better visibility. The rear lamp clusters are see-through LED units for greater safety.
The FT-EV II Concept has a remarkable top speed of over 60mph and a full-charged battery allows for a range of more than 50 miles, making it great for urban journeys. A smooth acceleration is achieved through Toyota's own motor control technology, part of their hybrid system at the core of the company's environmental technologies.
