Toyota Highlander Hybrid

The Toyota Highlander (also known as the Kluger in Japan and Australia) is a mid-sized crossover SUV manufactured by the Toyota Motor Corporation at its assembly plant in Kyushu, Japan. Unveiled at the 2000 New York Auto Show as a 2001 model, the Highlander was initially released in Japan towards the end of 2000 and became available in North America the following January. Aimed to bridge the gap between the RAV4 and 4Runner, the Highlander later positioned itself between the two models and is now Toyota's top-selling SUV. It shares the Camry platform with the Lexus RX/Toyota Harrier and is available in both 5-seater and 7-seater configurations. In the US, the Highlander is offered in three trim levels: Base, Sport, and Limited. The Base and Limited models have been available since the Highlander's first launch, while the Sport edition was introduced in March 2006. In Australia, the Kluger is available in three variants – CV, CVX, and Grande – with the CV Sport being the limited edition released in 2006. Currently, no hybrid variant is available in Australia and the only engine offered is the 3.3L 3MZ-FE V6. Engines
  • 2001-present 2.4 L 2AZ-FE I4, 160 hp (119 kW)

The 3.0L engine had the capacity to bring the Highlander from 0-60 mph in around 8.8 seconds. In 2004, the Highlander was equipped with a more powerful 3.3L V6 in response to competing crossovers such as the Hyundai Santa Fe and Honda Pilot. With the stronger engine, the Highlander was able to accelerate to 60 mph in 7.8 seconds.
