Toyota Sequoia

The Toyota Sequoia full-size sport utility vehicle rolls into the 2011 model year with interior trim changes. The trailer hitch connector is now the same as that found on the Tundra full-size pickup truck, and a new switch for the standard Daytime Running Lights is featured. The Sequoia is available in SR5, Limited and Platinum grades, and in select areas, it has E85 Flex Fuel capability as a standard on 4x4 5.7-liter V8 models. Performance The Sequoia offers two V8 engines for 2011: a newly introduced 4.6-liter and the 298-horsepower 5.7-liter unit featured in previous model years. Both engines operated on regular-grade fuel. The Sequoia SR5 is fitted with the new 310-horsepower 4.6-liter i-Force V8, an aluminum alloy cylindrical engine with Dual Independent Variable Valve Timing with intelligence (VVT-i). The engine delivers peak torque of up to 327 lb.-ft. at 3,400 rpm and is mated to a six-speed electronically-controlled automatic transmission, promising better performance and increased fuel economy. The Limited and Platinum grades come with a standard iForce DOHC 5.7-liter V8, also mated to a six-speed electronically controlled automatic transmission. This engine pumps out 381 hp at 5,600 RPM and 401 lb.-ft. of torque at 3,600 RPM, some of the best figures of its class. With the 5.7-liter, the Sequoia can tow up to 7,400 lbs, and its towing hitch is integrated into the frame as one single piece. The engine's 90 percent of peak torque is available at a low 2,200 RPM, proving helpful when towing. Drive mode adds to convenience and performance while towing with its modified shift points.
