Toyota Supra
With its performance rivalling many exotic sports cars and Toyota's renown quality, the Toyota Supra is indeed one of a kind. It is equipped with a highly advanced twin-cam, in-line six-cylinder, 24-valve engine with electronic fuel injection. In its normally aspirated form, it produces 220 horsepower at 5,800 rpm and 210 lb./ft. of torque at 4,800 rpm. Additionally, it has a specially-designed intake system and split-exhaust manifolds which reduce engine back pressure and aid enhanced power output and fuel economy.
The Toyota Supra can be paired with either a five-speed manual or four-speed automatic transmission, allowing for smooth shifting. In its turbocharged version, it produces 320 horsepower at 5,600 rpm and a whopping 315 lb.-ft. of torque at 4,000 rpm. To support this power, it incorporates twin-sequential intercooled turbos which provide quicker response at low speeds and more output at high speeds.
Supra's six-speed manual transmission, however, has been discontinued to meet ever-increasing emission regulations and a four-speed electronically-controlled automatic has been developed to make the most use of the engine. The control system adjusts shift timing, lock-up timing, hydraulic pressure for the clutch and brake and engine torque to render shifts near seamless. Shift times can also be sped up by selecting manual mode and selecting each gear directly.
