The Toyota Tacoma is a truly unique vehicle as it has been the best-selling compact pickup truck in North America since 2005, making it a great choice for both recreational and professional users. For 2011, the Tacoma is offering two new packages based on a concept vehicle first seen at the 2009 Specialty Equipment Marketing Association (SEMA) Show: the T|X and T|X Pro. These packages come with Toyota Racing Development (TRD) accessories and are available in conjunction with the Off-Road Package at a special price.
In response to growing consumer demands for fuel efficiency and cost of operation, Toyota has discontinued three lower-volume models and added five new four-cylinder models. All Toyota Tacoma grades feature new grille trim and some models have additional standard equipment for 2011. Air conditioning is now standard on all Regular Cab models and models with the six-disc CD changer now come with an integrated satellite radio receiver (subscription required). The Double Cab model also has the new Convenience Extra Value Package, providing cruise control, a sliding rear window with privacy glass, remote keyless entry and steering wheel audio controls.
For the hardcore pickup fan, the new T|X and T|X Pro Packages are available on a limited basis on the V6 Access Cab or V6 Double Cab. Offering an even higher level of performance and off-road capability, the T|X and T|X Pro Packages make the Toyota Tacoma the most capable off-road option in the Toyota lineup and can be found on both PreRunner and 4x4 models.
