Toyota Tacoma remains the highest-selling compact pickup truck in the United States market, offering a stylish exterior and redesigned, upgraded interior in all models for 2012. It featured several changes that add comfort, functionality, and audio/infotainment performance. In 2010, over 106,000 Toyota Tacoma models were sold, which was twice as much as its closest competitor.
It has a revised exterior design from the hood, grille, headlamps, and front bumper, plus a new center-instrument panel feature for the gauge cluster, along with a redesigned steering wheel and center stack. The interior of the Toyota Tacoma has been updated with a black high-contrast center console, switch plate covers, dash, and upper door trim. The SR5 grade has also been given a new seat fabric design. Access and Double Cab models now offer heavy-duty all-weather flooring and TRD Sport and Off-Road models provide water-resistant fabric protection seats. Other new improvements include a larger, higher-resolution display for the available back-up camera, a new temperature gauge, rear-view mirror with compass and HomeLink, vanity lamps added to the sun visors, as well as an additional overhead storage compartment and a new rear-console storage box in Access Cab models. Furthermore, all models now have two front-deck "D" rings added for more versatility.
