TVR Chimaera

The TVR Chimaera is a two-seater convertible sports car built by TVR between 1992 and 2003, inspired by the mythical Chimera and boasting a similar chassis and engine as the Griffith model. With a design philosophy of extended tourer capabilities, the car was formulated to be more spacious and feature softer suspension compared to its sister car. Suspension The suspension set-up entails independent, unequal-length double wishbones and coil-over gas dampers with anti-roll bars. Ground clearance is approximately 5 inches. Braking Front and rear brakes are both disk brakes with the former measuring 260 mm and being ventilated. The rear brakes are 273 mm in diameter. Both sets are servo-assisted with a front/rear split dual circuits and cabled hand brake for the rear wheels. Steering Optionally, steering is power-assisted via the rack and pinion system connected to an adjustable steering column. Lock-to-lock turns are 2.2 for the power-assisted system and 2.5 for manual. The steering wheel James measures 350 mm in diameter and is leather-covered with the ability to be customized by TVR. Manufacturer's options Other conducive features for comfort during longer trips included air conditioning, rear speakers, six CD autochanger, full leather, heated seats, wood and chrome steering wheel, wool carpets, gold-colored badges, Griffith 500 seven-spoke wheel for smaller engine versions (standard on 5.0), and a 4,988 cc V8 (5.0) initially available as a factory option on the 4.3 and 4.5 litre models.
