TVR Sagaris

The TVR Sagaris is a sports car developed and manufactured by British automaker TVR from their facility in Lancashire. After the release of its pre-production model at the MPH03 Auto Show in 2003, the production version of the TVR Sagaris was shown off at the 2004 Birmingham Motorshow and put up for sale to the public the following year. Inspired by the TVR T350, the Sagaris was built with an eye towards endurance racing, as evidenced by its aerodynamic body, numerous vents and air intakes, full-sized wing mirrors, and a location for the fuel filler that remains unchanged since its original release. The car too bucked the European Union guideline that all models should be fitted with ABS and front airbags, and nixed electronic aids like traction control and electronic stability control. Intitially created by former TVR Chief Designer Damien McTaggart, the Sagaris was named after the Greek term for the lightweight battle-axe used by the Scythians, famous for its capacity to puncture armor. Graham Browne eventually refined the design. The TVR Sagaris comes equipped with a TVR Speed Six 4.0L engine, capable of delivering 380 bhp and 349 ft·lbf of torque at 5,000 RPM powering a 5-speed manual transmission. Its suspension consists of independent cartridge type gas dampers, double wishbones and sway bars at the front and rear. The car is further equipped with 322 mm and 298 mm ventilated disc brakes in the front and rear, respectively, which are held in place by 18 in aluminum alloy Spider wheels. Other features include a body constructed of Glass Reinforced Plastic that tips the scales at 1,078 kg, and its performance is highlighted by a 0-60 mph time of 3.7 seconds and top speed of 190 mph (310 km/h).
