Five distinct inline six engines were available for the TVR Tuscan. Of these, four were installments of the 4.0 L Speed Six, offering different power and torque outputs depending on the trim level. The last of the lineup was the 3.6 L Speed Six, producing the same amount of power as the most basic 4.0 L engine but providing slightly lesser torque.
Bore and stroke measurements of these engines are 96 mm by 92 mm (4.0 L) and 96 mm by 83 mm (3.6 L) respectively. While the TVR Tuscan comes with 360 hp (268.5 kW) and 310 ft.lbf (420.3 Nm) of power and torque, the TVR Tuscan Red Rose version brings a step up with 380 hp (283.4 kW) and 310 ft.lbf (420.3 Nm) respectively. Furthermore, the TVR Tuscan S, with variations before and after 2003, has 390 hp (290.8 kW) and 310 ft.lbf (420.3 Nm) as opposed to the more enhanced 400 hp (298.3 kW) and 315 ft.lbf (427.1 Nm) respectively. Lastly, the 3.6 L version churns out 350 hp (261 kW) and 290 ft.lbf (393.2 Nm).
Chassis
While some modifications have been made to the TVR Tuscan's chassis and suspension, the overall size and design remain almost unchanged, barring a few minor aerodynamic aids to the S model, such as an undertray and small boot-lid spoiler. In October 2005, the Mk 2 variant was introduced, constituting of visual changes to the front and rear lights and dashboard, plus some tweaks in the chassis to improve the handling. Moreover, a full soft top was also unveiled for this model.
Performance
These performance figures have been recorded in a post-2003 TVR Tuscan S without traction-control or anti-lock brakes. TVR believes that such features do not enhance the performance and safety of their cars and, hence, do not provide them in their vehicles. According to the brand's testing and experience, their cars are safer without airbags, ABS, and traction-control than with them.
