Vauxhall Astra Convertible

In 1998, the Vauxhall Astra MK4 was released, responding to criticisms of the MK3 with improved ride and handling. The focus on safety was highlighted in its structural rigidity, granting it a Euro NCAP four-star crash test rating at the time, which was considered to be excellent. In the UK, the Astra was available with a range of Ecotec 16v engines, and 8v units. As its life span evolved, the 8v Z16SE engine demonstrated good all-round performance, with insurance less than that of the 16v. Available also as a hatchback, was the coupé, powered by four petrol engines: The 1.2 Z12XE (available in Ireland and other E. European countries only), the 1.4 16v X14XE, the 1.6 8v X16SZR and Z16SE, the 1.6 16v Twinport Z16XEP, the 1.8 X18XE1 and Z18XE, the 2.2 Z22SE and the 2.0 Turbocharged SRI Turbo and GSI Turbo variants. There were also four diesel variants, being the 1.7 DTi, the 1.7 CDTi, the 2.0 DTL 16v, and the 2.0 DTi Y20DTH.
