Vauxhall Astra Estate

The Astra Mark 5 Estate was launched in 2004, bringing more variation to the Vauxhall Astra family. The Sport Hatch version notably featured an extended panoramic windscreen, a unique feature for a production car at that time. These two models were accompanied by Life, Club, Design, SXi, SRi, Elite and VXR versions. A number of limited-edition Astra models were released such as the Active, Energy, Breeze, and VXR Nürburgring, which was only available in white with a black and white checkered stripe decorating the hood, roof, and tailgate. The Petrol versions included 1.4, 1.6, 1.8s, 1.6 Turbo, and the 2.0 litre VXR Turbo, while the Diesel options were the 1.3, 1.7 (with 80 or 100 bhp) and the 1.9 (in 120 and 150 bhp options). All Diesel engines featured the initials CDTI and majority of them had 16 valves. The MK5 also saw the introduction of the TwinTop, a two-door coupé convertible, which had already been a variant on the Tigra. The Mark 4 was the first Astra to receive a 5-star Euro NCAP crash test rating, and was Britain's second-best selling car in the years 2005-2007. The five-door model was replaced in 2009 while the three-door version was discontinued in 2011.
