Vauxhall Corsa 2005 posters

Vauxhall Corsa

The Corsa C was introduced in 2000, coming with a distinct styling for the three-door and five-door hatchbacks. General Motors (GM) had dubbed the new chassis Gamma, which they intended to use in several other models. Latin America, South Africa, and the Middle East all offer a sedan version too. The Brazilian version, available in those countries, has a stronger front end compared to its European twin. Brazil also provides a pickup truck version of the Corsa, named the Chevrolet Montana (Tornado in some markets). It is exported in CKD (completely knocked down) form into South Africa for local assembly. In South Africa, it is simply known as The New Corsa and its pickup version as the Utility. The 1.0 L, 1.2 L and 1.4 L gasoline engines (from the Corsa B) remain, as well as a new 1.7 L Circle L turbodiesel and 1.8 L petrol engine. In 2002, the same chassis gave rise to the Opel Meriva mini MPV, designed in Rüsselsheim (Germany) and finished in Brazil by Chevrolet. Moreover, an Opel Corsa is used in the "Lights Motors Action!" show at Disney MGM Studios. In Australia and New Zealand, the Corsa C was dropped in December 2005 by GM Holden as a cost-cutting measure and was replaced by the Chevrolet Kalos, which is now the new Holden Barina.
