Vauxhall Tigra 2005 posters

Vauxhall Tigra

The Tigra was first introduced as a small coupé built on the second generation Opel Corsa platform at the 1993 Frankfurt Motor Show and was produced until 2000. It was then resurrected in 2004 as the Tigra Twin Top - a 2-seater coupé convertible with a retractable hardtop in the style of the Peugeot 206 CC. The sports car was mostly marketed in the United Kingdom as the Vauxhall Tigra, in Brazil and Mexico as the Chevrolet Tigra and in Australia as the XC-series Holden Tigra. The first generation was equipped with two petrol engines sourced from the Ecotec family, a more economical 1.4 L with 90 PS (66 kW), and a larger sportier version, powered by the 1.6 L engine with 106 PS (78 kW). Both had DOHC 16 valve engines with electronic fuel injection and the 1.4 L engine was available with an optional 4-speed automatic gearbox. It had a suspension tweaked by Lotus and a higher top speed of 203 km/h (126 mph), obtained thanks to the higher gear ratios, a lower drag coefficient of 0.31, and 15" wheels on the more powerful model. The second generation is offered with the same engine options, a 1.4 L from the Twinport family and a 1.8 L from the Corsa GSi producing 125 PS (92 kW). In addition, a Fiat 1.3 diesel engine was also introduced in 2005. Both generations are available in Australasia with just the 1.8 L engine.
