Venturi Astrolab
The Electro-Solar Hybrid Venturi Astrolab takes energy from the sun, utilizing 3.6 sqm of photovoltaic cells giving an exceptional yield of 21%. These are covered by a film composed of nano-prisms that enable denser concentration of solar energy. Its 16 kWc engine and last-generation NiMH Venturi NIV-7 batteries - liquid cooled - mean it can restitute stored energy from either solar or the electricity supply, effectively making it the first electro-solar hybrid vehicle. With a top speed of 120 km/hr and autonomy of 110 km, and with zero emissions and zero consumption, this eco-friendly vehicle is a "Solar Commuter" capable of making extensive trips on a daily basis.
Designed like a Formula 1 car, Venturi Astrolab has a carbon-monocoque chassis that is ultra-light and adds an oversized protection cell to ensure safety in the event of a collision. Its profile brings to mind the aqua-dynamic design of great racing yachts. What's more, it offers the rays of the sun 3.6 sqm of today's most sophisticated photovoltaic cells (for an overall vehicle length of under 4 m). With Astrolab, Venturi has given priority to the solar solution as its energy conversion technology, offering high performance while using very little energy.
